Victor Foo

Principal Consultant

Victor, an engineer and a graduate of Imperial College, London with a Masters in Business Administration, has served with Shell Malaysia and Shell Singapore for 30 years in various managerial positions, viz. technical engineering, marketing sales, employee & industrial relations, HR strategies & planning, recruitment & compensation. His life-work interest in people and organisational development shifted his focus from engineering to HR & OD issues, particularly in learning and development. Recently, with his continued interest in marketing, he has developed very participative action-learning workshops in business skills and commercial sense. These workshops, introduced into Shell Companies in Asia-Pacific have had excellent reviews and also successfully conducted for Shell customers and business associated companies and, presently, used by companies to develop business management skills for their people.

Victor retired from his last posting in Shell as general manager of the Asia Pacific Zone Learning Centre based in Singapore in 2000. Beginning with his initiatives in positioning the Learning Centre as a self-funded business unit, it has now grown to become part of Shell Learning International, a worldwide in-house learning & management consulting entity that provides programmes in Leadership and Management Development, Strategic and Personal Change Management, Business, Innovation and Engagement Skills.

Outside Shell, Victor has been closely associated with both MIHRM, MIM and SIM for several years. In MIHRM, he served as Director of Education & Training and Vice President and is now a member of the Court of Fellows. In MIM, he served on the faculty of three of their MBA programmes and is currently a Certified Professional Trainer and senior associate consultant with MIM & PSMB. Victor has presented several professional papers at various national and international conferences over the past 20 years. Recently, to enhance and professionalise his executive coaching experience with senior managers of large corporations, he obtained the USA-based International Coaching Federation’s Certificate in Performance Coaching.

Victor, a Malaysian, is now back in Kuala Lumpur as the Principal Consultant of CDC Consulting and is presently engaged in his twin passion of :

  • Helping people to develop their talents and, hopefully, to realise their full potential in organisations and
  • Helping organisations develop change agility and a stronger business focus and presence.

Nizar Idris

Chairman & Senior Consultant

Nizar spent a major part of his career with Royal Dutch Shell. He was the Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of the Shell Companies in Malaysia.

Prior to his career in Shell he was the Senior Federal Counsel advising the Government of Malaysia on fiscal and tax matters. He represented the Government on a number of major cases before the courts and at the Privy Council in London. He negotiated a number of Double Taxation Treaties for Malaysia and drafted the Income and Real Property Gains Tax Acts. After serving the Government for some years he was headhunted to join Shell.

During his career with Shell he worked in Malaysia, London and The Netherlands. In his last posting in London he was the Division Head of the Legal Syndicate in Shell International Petroleum Company Limited, responsible for the Royal Dutch Shell Group’s investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions throughout the world. As a senior member of the Shell management team he worked closely on the development of the Shell group business strategies and participated in the development and implementation of the Shell global scenarios. He was responsible for the development of the Business Plans for the Shell operating companies.

After his retirement from Shell he was appointed as a Director on the Boards of a number of public and private companies including a bank and an investment bank. He was a Director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research. He was President of the Harvard Business School Alumni Club of Malaysia. He is the Chairman of CDC Consulting Sdn Bhd.
